Philadelphia Eagles sign former Auburn defensive back again

For the fifth time in his NFL career, Blake Countess has signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. So far, the former Auburn defensive back has played in two regular-season games for Philadelphia. The Eagles announced the signing of Countess on Monday as they waived safety Obi Melifonwu. Rodney McLeod, expected to be the starting strong safety, remains on the Philadelphia’s physically-unable-to-perform list as he recovers from a torn ACL sustained on Dec. 13. Countess’ association with the Eagles started when Philadelphia selected him from Auburn in the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
